DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY & PERFORMANCE
KINETICS is movement. It is a symptom of life embedded in the grammar of our humanity, our constantly evolving nature and expression. Kinetic Art shocks the unflinching static of traditional forms by breaking into a radical new dimension… time. Through concepts of motion, or virtual and apparent movement, it defibrillates art by rousing life into the medium.
The dynamic relationship between reality and illusion is kinetic, and at times, the two become one.
Join us and propel into the KINETIC revolution – where we present, rather than represent, our own living reality. Creative concepts, striking visuals, vibrations and performances will be featured at KINETIC both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. The two-day event is 21+ with a full cash bar. KINETIC FASHION is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.

EXPANSIVENESS: CHANGING PERSPECTIVE
Architecture studio CMLA and MashUp Contemporary Dance Company, in collaboration with the A+D Museum and HomeMake Labs, present Expansiveness: Changing perspective. This immersive performance evokes both spatial and social manifestations of expansiveness.
The physical and projected environment is a design implementation of CMLA’s ongoing research project Architecture of Effortless Attention, through which the studio is investigating means and methods for producing qualities of mystery and novelty to promote psychological wellness. MashUp’s choreography brings the audience through a narrative of identifying truth among the thoughts we each project upon ourselves and upon each other. The performance explores the potential of people recognizing a problem, considering solutions together, and collectively producing change through the expansion of one small idea.
Co-produced by two female-owned organizations, Expansiveness: Changing perspective celebrates Women’s Equality Day with performances on August 24 and 25
MashUp Contemporary Dance Company is a non profit all female contemporary company that aims to create artistically innovative works and engage diverse communities in the invaluable experience of dance through performances, after school educational programming, and participation with the Los Angeles Dance Community. MashUp thrives on collaboration with other choreographers and dancers as well as creating an inclusive and approachable environment. MashUp strives to inspire its audiences by exploring and creating a unique MashUp aesthetic combining jazz, modern, and hip hop vocabulary with a foundation strongly rooted in ballet. MashUp aims to share the gift of dance and use it to empower young minds and bodies with a special importance placed on motivating girls and women to be strong, confident, and articulate females.
CMLA envisions a new future of experience design within our media-rich urban cultures. The name, “Curious Minds Los Angeles,” embodies the studio’s vision to bring the subjects of our curiosities—nature, neuroaesthetics, performance art, industrial design, and social media—into design realities that actively engage the mind and emotions. CMLA relies heavily on interdisciplinary collaboration to investigate various scales of spatial intervention, the unexpected and wonderful moments created by carefully employing visible and invisible material palettes. The studio is passionate about the potential for architecture to improve human well-being with each sensory experience. The office is run by Erin Cuevas and Jana Masset Collatz, two women with unique backgrounds who quickly found common ground and a strong friendship while studying at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. The young practice is committed to shaping the exciting future of both design pedagogy and practice.
The A+D is a place for individuality, creativity, discovery, and continuous questioning. It is a location of serendipitous combustion resulting in endless exhibitions, events and cultural engagement bringing LA to the front line of emerging themes, topics and thoughts of the Architecture and Design community. Established in January 2001, A+D is the only museum in the country to exclusively and continuously host architecture and design exhibitions, symposia, multi-disciplinary projects, educational, and community programs.
HomeMakeLabs is an architecture, video game, and visualization laboratory focused on programming physical space and building digital space. Trained as architects at the Graduate School of Design, founders Matthew Conway and Cory Seeger infuse narrative and atmosphere into the creation of physical and non-physical environments.
